I woke up charged and ready for another great breakfast with Terry, Garry and the other guests and was not disappointed. Ready to head down the road, I invited Emily and Hailey, to forego the bus and join me in the car. They happily accepted, we packed up, bid farewell to Ignacio Springs, Terry and Gary.
We stopped in Mulegé (pronounced, Moo-la-hay), approximately an hour southeast and located on the Sea of Cortez. We decided to explore the town a bit before heading further south to Loreto. Feeling adventurous, if we didn't feel adventurous enough already, we followed a dirt road north of the river, not knowing where it was going to lead and not knowing if the road was going to get better or worse.
Serendipitously for us, we wound up face-to-face with the amazingly gorgeous, aquamarine waters of the Sea of Cortez. Serendipity, my favorite-car-ever, came through again! And if that wasn't enough, the perfect cool bar, was located right on the beach.
Of course, we had to stop there and had some amazingly fresh fried calamari, boiled shrimp and many cervezas. I don't think any of us could have been happier. If was perfect, looking out at the Sea of Cortez and chatting, a great way to spend the afternoon!
We left Mulegé and headed to Loreto. It's approximately 2 hours south and also on the Sea of Cortez. Checked into a neat little hotel called Nellie's, had some more tasty food and watched the sunset from the rooftop bar while drinking a few more cervezas.
